Bio

Mr Sipho Zulu is currently a Manager of Archives and Special Collections at University of Johannesburg. Mr Zulu started his career as an Archivist at KwaZulu Natal Archives Repository based in Durban. In 2008, he joined eThekwini Municipality under the Local History Museums where he was working as a Researcher responsible for exhibitions and collecting the history of townships in eThekwini Municipality. In 2009, presented a paper “Content development in an indigenous digital library” at Italy, Milan: A case study of community participation, the paper was published under the journal called Sage which is linked to International Federation of library Associations (IFLA). Before joining UJ, he worked at Northwest Provincial Archives as a Deputy Director of Archives. In 2012, he was elected as an executive member of Oral History Association of South Africa (OHASA) responsible for Promotion and Publicity. In 2014, elected as a Deputy Chairperson for South African Society of Archivist (SASA). He has presented papers on archives and oral history at various conferences organized by OHASA and SASA. His interest is in oral history and preservation of archival material for knowledge development. He had served in various committees within OHASA which includes Constitution Committee, OHASA Editorial Board and Conference papers selection Committee. He is a passionate practitioner and a champion of preservation of documented heritage for research and popularizing archival profession to younger generations for them to realize the worth of records management and archiving.
